Out of Town Shooters

"Somebody prayed for me. Had me on their mind. Took the time to praaaay for me. I'm so glad they prayed! I'm so glad they prayed! I'm so glad they praaayed for me!"

Those are the lyrics of one of the easiest hymms I learned my first year being in the GANG OF JESUS! I came from out the world and off the streets NAKED (not literally lol), when five years ago, I joined the church that I'm now an ACTIVE MEMBER. Before that, I knew nothing about NOTHING in regards to the church. I just knew my life was hydroplaning out of control and SOMEBODY by the NAME OF JESUS could take the wheel and keep me from falling off a cliff. It was DO OR DIE for me you feel me?

I used to purposely come to church sometimes a little early. Before service and before Sunday school, until it became a habit. Why? I always looked forward to hearing a certain woman pray. I'm telling you, this lady could brush the clouds away and pull the sky apart with her prayers! POWERFUL PRAYERS y'all. I had never heard anything like it. Her prayers were ferocious and sharp. The floors would rumble! I nicknamed her "Sista Siren." If you ever get a chance to come to my church, I will introduce her to you. But I remember thinking, "God has to hear her prayers. He just HAS TO!"

A few years later, I was introduced to another woman at my church who can slay you with her prayers. I mean whatever creepy crawling thing that had the audacity to take refuge inside you, this lady could get it out of you! I would tremble whenever she prayed. She was and still is A POWERHOUSE! Whenever someone joined our church, she would go with them after they made that courageous walk down the aisle, she would go with a few more other saints and pray with them. You could hear her turning it up in the spirit in the other room! I nicknamed her "Sista AK47" Come to my church and I will introduce her to you as well.

Anywho, over the course of about two and a half months, I've been wrestling with DEPRESSION. I've battled depression since I was 12, but I've always seemed to keep it under control. Well these last few months CHILE BOOM, it feels like that demon's been eating it's Wheaties and working out cuz I promise you this fight ain't NOTHING NICE. I've been getting straight FLEXED on yo! NOT COOL. I wake up sometimes feeling like I was dragged by a truck. Somedays I don't want to get up. Some days I feel it would take more energy to blink and breathe, so why not give up and DIE TODAY? But it never fails, I NEVER GIVE UP. I get up and put on my whole armor of God. I put on my whole armor of God and I prepare to FIGHT another round. I prepare to FIGHT another round, with dry blood on my knuckles, bruised limbs, and sore muscles.

My lungs feel like they want to collaspe. My head hurts. I can barely see. BUT I NEVER GIVE UP! And I become AMAZED at this! Why don't I ever give up? Why does it seem like when I go to battle and I feel myself being overtaking by this thing, this thing ends up LOSING THE FIGHT? How is this possible?

One particular morning, I woke up feeling the same way. I pulled myself out of bed and went forth about my day. Randomly, I get a message from someone telling me that I was on their mind the night before and I that they were up PRAYING FOR ME. Not too long after that I get another message and then another! All from different people, saying the SAME THING....THEY PRAYED FOR ME! Later on that evening, someone came to me and said I was laying heavily on their mind. I was immediately carried away in thought like, "God has hired me some OUT OF TOWN SHOOTERS!"

HA! Check this out! What are OUT OF TOWN SHOOTERS? Ok so I hijacked this term from the movie, "Four Brothers" starring, Mark Walhberg, Andre 3000, Tyrese and Garret Hedlund. Not going to go into detail about what the movie is about. You just have to see if for yourself lol. But there was a particular scene where this drug kingpin named Victor Sweet played by actor Chiwetel Ejiofer, where he confronted his goons about the way in which they hired these hitmen. It was made apparent in this scene that the goons were given money by Sweet to hire OUT OF TOWN SHOOTERS. The goons however cut corners and hired some neighborhood thugs to do the job, and a messy job they did.

I took that term though and flipped it to describe an INTERCESSOR. Intercessors are the people in the church who pray for EVERYBODY. They don't pray for themselves until they've PRAYED FOR YOU. They submerge themselve into prayer on YOUR BEHALF. They risk being spiritually attacked, to PRAY FOR YOU. They get the job done! Those are OUT OF TOWN SHOOTERS!

I believe that in your weakest moments, GOD hires you some OUT OF TOWN SHOOTERS that have been trained in SPIRITUAL WARFARE. They know how to find a target and TAKE IT DOWN! They're sharp shooters and superb snipers. While you're FIGHTING, their SHOOTING! Their not always going to be on the battlefield. They moreso be in the cut WATCHING!

 Matthew 26:36-38
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

You see that? Jesus needed somebody be on WATCH MODE when He started to feel down. Now, if you read a little further pass the 38th verse, you will find that these SO CALLED WATCHEMEN, WENT TO SLEEP! Say what? YES! Hence, this surefire fact that I discovered, GOD will not hire a handful of raggady SLEEPER CELLS to be on your team. HE'S GOING TO HIRE SOME EXPERIENCED, OUT OF TOWN SHOOTERS. Honey you might be reading this with a busted lip and a shiner, as am I.  I actually just took a BLOW while typing. Yes like RIGHT NOW! But it's cool though, you and I have BACKUP.  People who have been spiritually trained for special operations like this. They can pray MIGHTY PRAYERS like "Sista Siren" and "Sista AK47". They get prayers through when the wind get's knocked out of us. Through effectuall fervent prayer, they invade HEAVEN when you can't form a single word with your mouth. And those people my warrior friends, were divinely placed by God. They are our OUT OF TOWN SHOOTERS! BOOM!

Strawberry Crush

Have you ever developed a crush for someone? How did you feel? How did you respond to this feeling? Did you challenge it? Did you explore it? Did it ever go away?  I remember my first crush. I was in first grade when I met Calvin. He was the cutest light bright I'd ever seen. My teacher caught on and would actually allow us to sit together. We would enjoy our innocent times, him making me laugh and me sharing my snacks. I loved him before I even knew what love was. But Calvin was a bad boy. He got in trouble a lot. I would take up for him too. But one day I would not be able to see him again because he moved away and transferred to another school. My heart was torn in half as I would miss him for a while.  That was about 24 years ago. Since then I've had a few crushes. None of them really went anywhere but to a disappointing dead end. Which has provoked me to seek understanding of what does "having a crush," really mean. In all honesty, having a crush on so

DEATH TO BOAZ!

If I hear another woman of God say she’s waiting on her “Boaz”, I’m going to scream my lungs bloody and hit her upside the head with an offering basket! Real talk! You’ve read the title, so you probably already can guess that this post is not going to be the nicest cup of tea you’ve had to drink. But you have to drink it and YES THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS! I hate to break it to you dear, BOAZ is not coming! Boaz was for Ruth and Ruth only. Boaz was tied to Ruth’s assignment. He is not TIED TO YOURS! I am afraid that the church has cooked up this lovely fairytale that every woman has a BOAZ designated for her. WRONG! If you go into the word, Boaz wasn’t even all that aaaaanndd Naomi helped Ruth come up with a cute little scheme to get homie’s attention. RUTH 3:1-5 One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home[a] for you, where you will be well provided for. 2 Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he wi

The Effectual Fervent Prayer

I am convinced that there is no such thing as an unanswered prayer. I believe I’ve touched on this before in an earlier post. But I’ve received some new revelations to add to my case. 2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. So does this mean that every prayer we send up, God says “Yes” to? Well, I must inform you, that it’s a little more complicated than that. Yet, it’s  not at all hard to understand. There is a three part transaction in this entire process. First we have OUR PRAYERS. Second, we have GOD’S PROMISES. Third, we have THE AMEN.” Yo, I’m so excited to explain this in full!  YOUR PRAYERS: The desires and issues of your heart are the language behind your prayers. Whatever interferences your heart experiences (that rhymes! Lol) determines the kind of prayer that you lift up to God. God will ALWAYS answer the prayer. Th
