Petty Christians PT II

Let the list continue! Please read 1-3 in the previous post if you haven’t already.

4 Not Reading the Bible
This one is going to sting a few folk. You know there are people *cough* believers, who actually stand in line during altar calls, pay tithes, and pass out after every A and B selection the choir sings, but have never or rarely picked up God’s word! Then have the gall to sit in somebody’s pew with their hands out talking about, “God said it’s my season.” So when did He tell you that? Why would He tell you that when your life doesn’t even mimic what He’s said from Genesis to Revelations? These are the same believers who are quick to blame God for their jacked up lives. Not even realizing that their lives are actually mirroring what they believe.

Stop fooling yourself, thinking you will have a blessed prosperous life because you go to church faithfully every Sunday wearing a new outfit. You’ve been neglecting God’s word. He’s going to give you the bare minimum because you’ve been doing the bare minimum. Trust me, I know. I’ve been there, done that, got a snapback and a velour jumpsuit!

5 Not Praying and Listening
Praying is talking to God. All those glittery sugary words you think you need to pray is nonsense and the devils way of making you think God has one form of communication required to get through to Him. No! God wants to hear from you at least once a day. I mean, can you blame Him? He created you to be able to communicate with Him. So why wouldn’t He want to hear your lovely voice? Why wouldn’t He want to hear about how awesome your day went or about the things that grieve and concern you?

I like telling God what’s working and what’s not working with me. Sometimes I spend hours soaking in His presence. It makes me feel better. I live off of my communication with Him. My life is full of drama even when I’m sitting still so prayer is my scapegoat. Yes, and don’t forget prayer also consists of you listening. Prayer releases the burdens of the heart that you may be empty enough to receive God’s answers. Stop looking at prayer as a religious chore. You need a consultant to help you handle your life. Without one (THE ONE) you risk screwing stuff up! I’ve done some damage in my day by refusing to pray and listen. Get your prayerlife in order saints! The health of your relationship with God is contingent upon the health of your prayerlife.

6 Being Arrogannt
My previous pastor said it best, “How are you going to be a Christian and stuck up?” Arrogant Christians are anvils in the kingdom. God continuously pulls you out of the gutter EVERYDAY but you’re looking at your brother and sister up and down like you have a problem. Oh ye of MUCH NERVE! Your salvation is no more authentic than anybody else. Your gifts and talents came from the same place and your ish smells like everybody else. You have no right to be arrogant. God can’t use you when you promote yourself to this high esteem with no merits! No wonder you’re not praying and listening to God, you’re stuck on yourself. Your words are full of air and your ears are clogged with pride. One of my most favorite people in the world who taught me a lot before he left this earth, Dr. Arthur T. Bonds said, “You’re acting suchy much.” Don’t be suchy much. God is not a fan of those attitudes.

  Proverbs 8:13
“To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.”

1 Samuel 2:3

"Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.”

7 Being Selfish
Once again this new life you lead in God is NOT ABOUT YOU! What you own is no longer yours. This I Me Mine syndrome is running rampant in the kingdom and causing stagnation. You are a part of one unit and you halt growth and the overall functionality of the unit when you’re selfish. Selfish people do not get far in life. Their life will lack luster when all they do is take, take, take! You know what else is the problem with selfish people? They have blindly convinced themselves that the world revolves around them and that they don’t have to contribute to anything or bring anything to the table. They deplete depreciate, and devalue. They have this bad air of entitlement and no consideration for the people they come into contact with.  God gave you time, talents, and other gifts to GIVE BACK to the kingdom. Not to hoard! When you give of yourself, you inevitably get more than you gave. Don’t be selfish!

Philippians 2:1-4

“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

Strawberry Crush

Have you ever developed a crush for someone? How did you feel? How did you respond to this feeling? Did you challenge it? Did you explore it? Did it ever go away?  I remember my first crush. I was in first grade when I met Calvin. He was the cutest light bright I'd ever seen. My teacher caught on and would actually allow us to sit together. We would enjoy our innocent times, him making me laugh and me sharing my snacks. I loved him before I even knew what love was. But Calvin was a bad boy. He got in trouble a lot. I would take up for him too. But one day I would not be able to see him again because he moved away and transferred to another school. My heart was torn in half as I would miss him for a while.  That was about 24 years ago. Since then I've had a few crushes. None of them really went anywhere but to a disappointing dead end. Which has provoked me to seek understanding of what does "having a crush," really mean. In all honesty, having a crush on so

DEATH TO BOAZ!

If I hear another woman of God say she’s waiting on her “Boaz”, I’m going to scream my lungs bloody and hit her upside the head with an offering basket! Real talk! You’ve read the title, so you probably already can guess that this post is not going to be the nicest cup of tea you’ve had to drink. But you have to drink it and YES THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS! I hate to break it to you dear, BOAZ is not coming! Boaz was for Ruth and Ruth only. Boaz was tied to Ruth’s assignment. He is not TIED TO YOURS! I am afraid that the church has cooked up this lovely fairytale that every woman has a BOAZ designated for her. WRONG! If you go into the word, Boaz wasn’t even all that aaaaanndd Naomi helped Ruth come up with a cute little scheme to get homie’s attention. RUTH 3:1-5 One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home[a] for you, where you will be well provided for. 2 Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he wi

The Effectual Fervent Prayer

I am convinced that there is no such thing as an unanswered prayer. I believe I’ve touched on this before in an earlier post. But I’ve received some new revelations to add to my case. 2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. So does this mean that every prayer we send up, God says “Yes” to? Well, I must inform you, that it’s a little more complicated than that. Yet, it’s  not at all hard to understand. There is a three part transaction in this entire process. First we have OUR PRAYERS. Second, we have GOD’S PROMISES. Third, we have THE AMEN.” Yo, I’m so excited to explain this in full!  YOUR PRAYERS: The desires and issues of your heart are the language behind your prayers. Whatever interferences your heart experiences (that rhymes! Lol) determines the kind of prayer that you lift up to God. God will ALWAYS answer the prayer. Th
