Forget Me Not

This weekend was no short of amazing! I was able to satiate my action hero appetite with a dope Marvel film; Black Panther. I love action films, so I was going to see this movie regardless of its hype and fanfare. My eagerness was warranted as the movie lived up to my personal expectations. And of course, I was able to find some very beautiful symbols in the film that I may expound on at a later time. Though I was pleased with this movie, there was a keynote struck that I won't necessarily say I didn't like, I'm just worried it has the potential to act as a form of metabolic acidosis in the kingdom for the curious, immature and wayward believer. Metabolic acidosis is caused when cells throw off the chemical balance in the blood making it more acidic. As if the kingdom needs anymore acid/poison

So what was the keynote? ---)))Ancestral worship or the worship of ancestors.

Now, I myself have seen this practice low-key celebrated by the "Conscious/#StayWoke,"community and some have associated it with voodoo. We all know what voodoo is. Yet, now that millions have seen this thing, ancestral worship practiced on the big screen, I believe many others may feel inclined to join in the celebration seeing no harm in it. I'M NOT ONE OF THEM! Just because my roots are African, I do not feel obligated to join n this particular celebration.

Isaiah 8:19
"Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?  Consult the message and the counsel of God."

For two weeks literally, I've been hearing God loud in my ears say, "Forget Me not!" I believe that this isn't just a command for me but for anybody who claims to believe in Him! He's commanding us in this hour, not to forget Him. He who sits on the throne. He who is the Alpha and Omega. He who is the beginning and the end. He who created the universe AND our ancestors. He says, "Forget Me not!" We can't allow even the smallest attractive forms of ungodliness no matter how it's wrapped, to vie for our undying devotion and allegiance to Christ! If you are considering swaying, then I question your original stance in Him. Did you ever really believe in Him? Or have you always been a spiritual experimentalist, looking for something that fits into your understanding of spiritual tangibility?

Isaiah 65:1-7
I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me. I said, “Here I am, here I am,” to a nation that was not called by my name.I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices; a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens and making offerings on bricks; who sit in tombs, and spend the night in secret places who eat pig's flesh, and broth of tainted meat is in their vessels who say, “Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.” These are a smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all the day. Behold, it is written before me: “I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will indeed repay into their lap both your iniquities and your fathers' iniquities together, says the Lord;

We can't worship our ancestors, people, because they are going to be judged just like we are. No one will escape from God's judgment. Our ancestors can not save us! Our ancestors can not admonish or warn us! Our ancestors are just that our ancestors. Yes we can learn from their ways and glean from their wisdom. Pay homage even. But THEY ARE NOT GOD! How offensive it is that creation finds it more appealing to worship other creations bypassing the Creator? That is just downright disrespectful. Please let's not condone the disrespect just because of a movie! What if I told you, that the worship of ancestors was not the origin of worship but the result of a people's rebellion? The result of a people not satisfied with their faith in their God of whom they couldn't see, to developing a faith in the dead, because at least they had an actual visual of them. In the Bible it says, that rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft! (1 Samuel 15:23) Yikes! Rebellion breaks the arms and legs of obedience and humility, welcoming in strife, oppression, evil, corruption, bondage. Need I say more?

Deuteronomy 4:9
 “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children—

Moses told this to the Israelites before they crossed the Jordan to enter into the promised land and before he forbade them not to engage in any form of idolatry. Ancestral worship creeps down the aisle of idolatry whether you like it or not! I hate to tell you that there is a possibility that ancestral worship was passed down in place of the worship of God, in idolatrous defiance.

I get it though, if you are seeking answers, I challenge you to ASK HIM! I will inform you that it's a great chance your answers will not come by way of your expectation. But you will not find answers or solace in the grave. God is not there either. If you are one reading this and affirmed in your faith needing no reminders to hold true to it, splendid. But if you are here reading this, wavering and confused, there's a cute little violet yard flower by the name of  Forget Me Not. Let's pretend like this post is me handing you this yard flower as confirmation of God's command in this hour, "Forget Me not!" I pray you're open for a visitation from the Lord this week, to help your unbelief and to stabilize you. It's time to close the grave, and open your heart, beloved.

Strawberry Crush

Have you ever developed a crush for someone? How did you feel? How did you respond to this feeling? Did you challenge it? Did you explore it? Did it ever go away?  I remember my first crush. I was in first grade when I met Calvin. He was the cutest light bright I'd ever seen. My teacher caught on and would actually allow us to sit together. We would enjoy our innocent times, him making me laugh and me sharing my snacks. I loved him before I even knew what love was. But Calvin was a bad boy. He got in trouble a lot. I would take up for him too. But one day I would not be able to see him again because he moved away and transferred to another school. My heart was torn in half as I would miss him for a while.  That was about 24 years ago. Since then I've had a few crushes. None of them really went anywhere but to a disappointing dead end. Which has provoked me to seek understanding of what does "having a crush," really mean. In all honesty, having a crush on so...

DEATH TO BOAZ!

If I hear another woman of God say she’s waiting on her “Boaz”, I’m going to scream my lungs bloody and hit her upside the head with an offering basket! Real talk! You’ve read the title, so you probably already can guess that this post is not going to be the nicest cup of tea you’ve had to drink. But you have to drink it and YES THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS! I hate to break it to you dear, BOAZ is not coming! Boaz was for Ruth and Ruth only. Boaz was tied to Ruth’s assignment. He is not TIED TO YOURS! I am afraid that the church has cooked up this lovely fairytale that every woman has a BOAZ designated for her. WRONG! If you go into the word, Boaz wasn’t even all that aaaaanndd Naomi helped Ruth come up with a cute little scheme to get homie’s attention. RUTH 3:1-5 One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home[a] for you, where you will be well provided for. 2 Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he wi...

The Effectual Fervent Prayer

I am convinced that there is no such thing as an unanswered prayer. I believe I’ve touched on this before in an earlier post. But I’ve received some new revelations to add to my case. 2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. So does this mean that every prayer we send up, God says “Yes” to? Well, I must inform you, that it’s a little more complicated than that. Yet, it’s  not at all hard to understand. There is a three part transaction in this entire process. First we have OUR PRAYERS. Second, we have GOD’S PROMISES. Third, we have THE AMEN.” Yo, I’m so excited to explain this in full!  YOUR PRAYERS: The desires and issues of your heart are the language behind your prayers. Whatever interferences your heart experiences (that rhymes! Lol) determines the kind of prayer that you lift up to God. God will ALWAYS answer the prayer. Th...
