Purge

Psalm 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. So listen, I absolutely HATE being under the weather. I can't stand a stuffy nose from a cold, weeping itchy eyes from an allergic fit, or any symptom related to food poisoning. But it looks like those things of which I hate, I've wound up experiencing ALL of them so far this year including the latter.  Last week this little piggy got a hold to some bad butter (yes butter goes bad, Google it.) and my body responded a few hours later basically telling me, "Tanzy look here, I love you but I hate this butter. I have to get rid of it by any many necessary. Needless to say, I felt like DEATH for 48 hours. I'm well now. I'm off the sick and shut in list. I can eat food again! Bless the Lord, oh my soul!  I thought about something, as we sit by and watch before our eyes the world experience it's own bout of what I would laughably consider food poisoning,...

!!! RUN !!!

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,  OMG! So this weekend a few of my colleagues and I participated in a 5k run here in Chicago near Soldier Field where our football games are held. It was one of Chicago's most unique runs because it started at 8 p.m. and along the trail there were multiple DJ booths set up playing music, bubble machines going, and selfie stations for people to take pictures. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I can still feel some soreness in my legs. LOL!  But when I first started, I was running with my two colleagues and three new friends I'd met while waiting to hit the trail. We were all running at a good pace together until I decided to take the shoulder of the trail to avoid being caught behind a large group of people who chose to walk...

Unequally Yoked

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? It was December 31, 2013, when I called my lover at the time who was out of town with friends and told him I was ending our relationship. We'd only been exclusive for three cute months prior to me making this decision. No, he'd never lay hands on me. He was never disrespectful and he wasn't a cheater. He wasn't emotionally abusive, sneaky, or conniving. He wasn't lazy or irresponsible. He was actually a very gentle, super sweet, and kind man.  What was the problem you ask? We...were...unequally...yoked! I knew this early on when I begin to relax mostly all of my convictions and boundaries for him. Get this, he never pressured me to do any of that. It was the undelivered parts of me; my rejection issues, and my desperation for companionship that mugged me leaving me open to do every...

Two Chains

Psalm 107:14  He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.

Peaches & Cream

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; HAPPY MAY to you that's reading this post. The weather here in Chicago where I am is finally feeling like its  trying to live up to it's designated season; Spring. This week so far has produced some beautiful days if I must say so myself. But I don't know what it is about the warm weather, it tends to arouse the lustful beasts in people especially those who do not practice self control. As someone who's been actively practicing abstinence for 5 years and some change, I can still attest to my own beastly nature. It never died. It's just been subdued and under heavy surveillance.  I wasn't always chaste. As a matter of fact, if I be honest, I would go long stretches without engaging in an...

Diamonds & Pearls

P salm 139:14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. This was one of the first scriptures I would become acquainted with when I became a believer nine years ago. I remember when I heard it quoted by someone in the church it felt like I'd been jolted by electricity. It was an unusual but amazing feeling to say the least. For someone who'd not too long just come from off the streets of atheism and suffering severely from low self esteem and low self worth, my soul needed to hear that the God I was trying to get to know had put great effort into me.  This scripture served as a continuous reminder since I would go through what seemed like a never-ending roller coaster of emotions that revolved around how I saw myself. My personal relationships were few because my lifestyle had drastically changed thus my interests had changed as well. Plus a romantic relationship had...

Mustard Seed

Matthew 17:20 And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. Pastor Mike Todd-Transformation Church  When  you hear the word,  faith, what do you hear? What is your definition of faith aside from the scripture Hebrews 11:1 that says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen?" What does that even mean?  Can you show me how the substance of things hoped for showed up strong in your life? Can you specifically tell me how the evidence of things unseen got you here reading this post today? How has faith made an impact and imprint in your life?  When's the last time you had to use faith? When was the last time your faith was really tested? When was the last time you felt like your faith had been used up? Is it a su...
